Diploma in Community Service Worker

Objective

The aim of this Community Service Worker (C.S.W) Diploma program is to provide individuals with the opportunity to gain skills to enter the field of social services and to assist all individuals, families, schools and communities. The students will share their talents, knowledge and experience in exchange for employment. The purpose is to develop confidence which leads to empowerment for accountability, responsibility and job opportunities. This program offers front line exposure to group homes, settlement services, and seniors; special needs for youth, addiction, women issues, counseling, and case management skills.
Each graduate will have the appropriate skills for potential employment in a wide variety of social services agencies as a professional C.S.W. Graduates enjoy employment, learning new skills, build healthy relationships and are expected to meet the following time guidelines. Once completed students will demonstrate their professional mentorship skills.

Schedule

Full time Schedule: Monday to Friday
       Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 am
       Next start date: Sep 9, 2010
Part time Schedule: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday
       Time: 6: 00 pm to 9:00 pm
       Next start date: Sep 09, 2010

    C.S.W. Students will self reflect, and involve themselves in projects that will benefit and enhance the individual, the family and the community as a whole.
    In addition, the C.S.W. Diploma will provide individuals with the skill sets to service in non-profit organizations, after school programs and mentorship projects. Each student can choose to  complete 300 hours of placement/community service.  This will give the student the exposure to “shadow” a professional in the field of social services as a front line worker on an entry level position.
