Course Description

The Canadian Securities Course Certification (CSC) is the most recognized investment course in Canada. The certificate program provides participants with the fundamental knowledge, skills and key competency areas essential to pursue the Certification, offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), the national education organization of the Canadian securities industry. It is an essential qualification whether you are looking to start or enhance a career in the financial services industry. This course is an introductory level investment course that introduces you to capital markets, investment products and the financial services industry. If you are just entering the financial service industry, the CSC will give you the knowledge and skills that employers demand. If you are currently working in the industry, the CSC will enhance your skills, ensure that you are able to provide the most complete services for your clients and help you excel in your career.

The CSC helps you understand Micro-and macroeconomics; Corporate financial structure; Market Securities (stocks, bonds, money market instruments); Corporate, industry and market performance/analysis; investment funds, segregated funds, hedge funds and derivative investments; portfolio development and management; financial planning and taxation.

Certificate

Successful completion of the CSC allows you to apply for licensing as a mutual fund salesperson. It is the first step towards registration for trading stocks and bonds and allows you to proceed into the Canadian Investment Techniques, Portfolio Management Techniques and Canadian Investment Manager programs or Professional Financial Planning, Wealth Management Techniques and Financial Management Advisor programs. This certificate, recognized by all Canadian financial sectors, is a pre-requisite for entering the industry.
