Diploma in Programmer / Analyst

Program Description

This 40 week diploma program is designed to meet the needs and challenges of today's dynamic information technology industry. Students will gain the knowledge and skills required to become successful programmers/analysts in a business-oriented, information technology environment. All the courses are designed to provide students with a carefully planned, up-to-date blend of programming, networking, database, system test, system analysis and productivity tools. 

The program is offered in full-time for 40 weeks.

After completion of this program, Students will acquire the necessary abilities to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Write, modify, integrate and test software code.
  • Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software.
  • System test-Execute test plans to evaluate the performance of software applications.
  • Develop and document software testing plans
    • Install software and hardware and configure operating system software in preparation for testing
    • Execute and document results of software application tests and information and telecommunication systems tests.
    • Develop and implement software and information system testing policies and procedures.
  • Consult user guides, technical manuals and other documents to research and implement solutions
  • Conduct tests and perform security and quality controls.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), mainframe networks, computer workstations, connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment.

Employment Prospect 

Employment is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. As a result of this rapid growth, job prospects should be very good. Job openings will occur as a result of strong job growth and from the need to replace workers who move into managerial positions or other occupations, or who leave the labour force.
